Lecturer in Exercise Physiology
Job information
The School of Sport Science & Physical Activity (SSPA) is located within the Faculty of Education & Sport on the Bedford Campus and has an unbroken tradition in Physical Education & Sport provision dating back to 1903. Applications are invited for the position of Lecturer in Exercise Physiology.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic
school that delivers ten undergraduate and five taught postgraduate courses. The school has a thriving postgraduate research community and works closely with the Institute of Sport and Physical Activity Research.
The school boasts the following purpose built facilities:
* Six BASES accredited, temperature controlled sport science laboratories
* An environmental chamber
* A nutrition research kitchen
* Two postgraduate research physiology laboratories
* A state of the art Sport Science & Physical Education Centre
In 2015, we also opened the following new facilities:
* Gym
* Strength and conditioning suite
* Astroturf pitch
Applicants should have demonstrable sector experience that is consistent with our diverse portfolio of undergraduate and postgraduate courses. They should hold a PhD or equivalent in a relevant subject area and an appropriate level of research and teaching experience in higher education. We are particularly interested in individuals with a sound understanding of laboratory testing in Sport and Exercise, for example, VO2max, Wingate, anaerobic thresholds and lung function, amongst others.
In addition, applicants should demonstrate engagement with external partners and industry, experiences providing placement supervision, excellent organisational and communication skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines.
Interviews will be held on week commencing 4 September 2017.
