The School of Sport Science & Physical Activity (SSPA) is located within the Faculty of Education and Sport on the Bedford Campus and has an unbroken tradition in Physical Education and Sport provision dating back to 1903. Applications are invited for the position of Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Sport, Coaching & Physical Education.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic department that delivers a diverse range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses, has a thriving postgraduate research community and works closely with the Institute of Sport and Physical Activity Research (ISPAR).
We are particularly interested in individuals with experience in both the education and sport sectors promoting sport and physical activity through improving pedagogy. Experience across a range of pedagogic models such as Sport Education, Teaching Games for Understanding and Cooperative Learning, and/or applied coaching experience would be beneficial.
Applicants should have demonstrable sector experience in sport, coaching and physical activity, hold a PhD or equivalent in a relevant subject area and have substantial research and teaching experience. In addition, applicants should demonstrate skills and experience that indicate they are ready to take on a management responsibility such as co-ordinating an area of our provision and new course development through to delivery. They should have a track record of engagement with schools and partners, excellent organisational and communication skills and the ability to meet deadlines. We may offer to appoint at lecturer/grade 7 if the experience of the best candidate has insufficient experience for the grade 8 role.
