Based within the School of Applied Social Studies, our undergraduate social science courses are popular and well regarded. Courses within the portfolio include Social Science, Criminology, Child and Adolescent Studies Health and Social Care, Policing and Sociology. We are seeking to recruit a new members of staff who can make contributions to any of these courses, especially in relation to the underpinning disciplines of sociology and social policy. As a School, we offer high quality education within a context of research excellence where student satisfaction is high. The recent Research Excellence Framework (REF 2014) identified more than three-quarters of the School's research in child and family welfare, crime, young people and social exclusion, and law and social policy, as world leading placing us in the top quartile for social work and social policy research.
The successful applicants will be able to contribute to the delivery of our overall provision and will be supported to make contributions to the Department's research and scholarly ambitions. Opportunities may also exist to make contributions to the delivery of our postgraduate courses as we seek to expand our Masters level provision. The University's commitment to Widening Participation is strong, with Applied Social Studies course in particular attracting a significant number of students from minority ethnic groups.
