Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Economics
Job information
The University of Bedfordshire Business School is at the forefront of expanding opportunity and access in higher education. With a strong focus on the student experience, we are committed to excellent, inclusive teaching that prepares our students for professional employment and inspires them to achieve their ambitions. We deliver across a range of Business-related
subject areas and are currently expanding provision through new partnerships and a developing portfolio of higher and degree apprenticeships. Our teaching, research and civic engagement make a real impact across business, public services and our community and in recognition of this we have recently become the first Business School in the UK to be assessed by the EFMD for their Business School Impact System label.
Following significant investment by the University in the learning environment and the student experience, we are seeking to make further appointments to enhance our portfolio in finance, accounting and economics education and to help drive our ambitious programme of strategic change. We are now seeking a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Economics to join this highly successful and growing area of our business.
Within the Department of Law and Finance, you will be joining the team responsible for our growing undergraduate and postgraduate economics courses, part of a wider portfolio that includes BA Honours Business Economics, BSc Honours Economics and Finance, MSc in Financial Economics and a range of other courses in Finance and Accounting. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering research informed teaching and learning, curriculum development and review and for providing an excellent student experience. The University's close proximity to London Luton Airport and the City of London means that we are well placed to work in close collaboration with business and provide rich opportunities for students to gain placements and internships experience as well as graduate employment opportunities on completion of their studies.
We would especially welcome applications from individuals with experience of teaching in quantitative methods and econometrics, applied economics, development economics and microeconomics (labour and trade). Experience of curriculum design and development, engagement with external partners and delivering HE provision across a distributed campus would be an advantage.
With a PhD or with equivalent experience in an appropriate subject area, you will be an excellent communicator, will enjoy working as part of a team and will be committed to your own personal development within your subject field.
Interviews will be held on 5 March 2019
