The Department of Law and Finance is seeking to recruit a Senior Lecturer in Law to join our academic community and contribute to our teaching and research activities.
Expertise in and experience of teaching core qualifying subjects is essential; the ability to contribute to teaching on International Commercial Law, International Commercial Arbitration and Investment Treaty Arbitration is highly desirable.
The successful candidate will also be able to demonstrate an established track-record of excellent individual research, or strong potential in that regard. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will have a doctorate in Law. Practical experience in the legal professions is also an advantage.
The Department of Law and Finance has a close-knit and cohesive group of full-time academic staff, visiting lecturers and an increasing number of post-graduate research students. The Department forms part of the University of Bedfordshire Business School, which offers undergraduate, postgraduate and professional programmes to over 5,000 students. In addition, we have over 1,500 students studying on our programmes overseas.
In addition to its successful LLB (Hons) degree, the Department has also from September 2016, been offering new undergraduate courses in Law with Criminology, Law with Financial Management and Law with Psychology (all LLB (Hons). The Department also has a thriving and successful postgraduate offering, consisting of the LLMs in International Business Law and International Commercial and Dispute Resolution Law, which have recently shifted to a highly innovative block delivery format.
The Department benefits from modern facilities, including a dedicated, fully equipped Moot Court, which was re-furbished in Summer 2014. Post-graduate courses are taught largely in the Luton campus' Research Graduate School, which opened in 2015. The University's new library is now open.
We are pleased to have a diverse student body and a vibrant student Law Society. Student experience is critical to us and we are delighted with our very high satisfaction rankings in NSS in recent years.
